What is a Tarsier?

One of Violet Darkling's signature pieces is inspired by nocturnal animal the 'Tarsier.'
The Tarsier's freaky hands and huge eyes led Violet to study this unfamiliar little creature, where she discovered the skull was just as intriguing .  She has transformed these skulls into rings and pendants which are adorned in bows and some with gemstones in their mouths as though they have stolen a precious colourful rock!

We Philippine Tarsier Monkey’s are probably the smallest primates in the world. We are not actually monkeys but we are primates. Our diet consists of insects which we eat live. Our height is between 90 to 160 mm. Our weight is between 70 to 165 grams. Our big eyes give us very acute night vision which makes us good hunters during the dark. Our big ears can move in the direction of any noise and our heads can swivel through 180 degrees which all helps us hunt.
We are still found in parts of the Philippines and parts of Indonesia. It has now been estimated that there are only between 5,000 and 10,000 of us left in the whole world and that number is known to be falling.
