“Jewellery is an intensely personal
art form. It allows the wearer an opportunity to celebrate an occasion or key
moment in life and encapsulates the spirit of an emotion forever”

Violet
Darkling is extremely proud to have been published in it’s first book, ‘Jewellery
Design' by Elizabeth Galton. The experienced author is a true guru in the accessories field having worked at high profile brands such as Swarovski,
Mercedes Benz, Liberty, Harvey Nicholls and most importantly Links of London. It was here that Elizabeth was Creative Director and responsible for the company's huge growth into the British jewellery retail scene. In 2010, Elizabeth was named in ‘Who’s Who of
Britain’s Business Elite’, was nominated for the ‘Women to Watch’ Award, and she also founded The Elizabeth Galton Studio. Elizabeth's latest venture, ‘Jewellery Design’, is a fascinating guide on how to enter the jewellery business, covering all aspects from marketing
to what it’s like to be a jewellery designer with exclusive interviews and case studies.
The book begins with a
fascinating introduction on how jewellery has evolved from animal teeth, to
then exploring religious meanings, fantasy themes and iconic eras.
Galton looks at the fine, couture and fashion jewellery markets as well as
how to source inspiration for your own work.
The book explains how Violet Darkling’s Rose Gold Fossa with Amethyst Cufflinks are a leading example on how to create a unique accessory for a shirt cuff by being a “novel take on
the traditional cufflink”. Our Silver Tarsier with Pink Tourmaline appears on the conclusion page where
Galton explains that she has used the designers in her book for “their
unique insight into creative practice today”.
Galton has been seen wearing our jewellery, and kindly stated in a recent interview with In Detail that,"Violet Darkling is a really interesting brand with a very nice proposition. Their marketing piece and story has been really nicely put together”. Read the rest HERE
