1)Notting
Hill Carnival, Sunday 26th - Monday 27th
Rio
visits London and illuminates Notting Hill for a two day extravaganza with this
vibrant, diverse and slightly mental festival! Europe’s biggest street party is
a vivid spectacle of sequin bikinis, feather manes, sumptuous food and
fantastic live music. The buzzing atmosphere is assisted by the huge
soundsystems blasting out a colourful assortment of Caribbean sounds – from
reggae and salsa to dub and grime. Don’t forget to line your stomachs with the
authentic street-food treats such as jerk chicken. Calypso Calypso!
If you want to make the most of Notting Hill afterwards, I suggest a pit-stop to the small but lively Portobello Star for a refreshing ‘Sally Cinamon’ cocktail, or if your hungry after dancing the day away stop off at the E and O Asian restaurant for some impressive Dim Sum.
